  Student Financial Services
 COUNSELOR

Columbia College Chicago is an urban institution of over 12,500 undergraduate and graduate students, emphasizing arts, media, and communication in a liberal arts setting. The Student Financial Services Counselor is the primary source for counseling to all Student Financial Services customers and specializes in resolution of complex student account counseling needs. The Counselor provides information and guidance in a timely, efficient manner and applies a holistic approach related to all aspects of the student account experience. Additional responsibilities include conducting a thorough and accurate analysis of each student account interaction; educating students and parents on account management and funding options; and directing students and families in ways to obtain and secure resources that enable account resolution. This requires a broad knowledge and compliant interpretation of federal, state, private and institutional sources of funds used to meet the costs of a Columbia College Chicago education.

To qualify, a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Two years of directly related experience in problem solving in student financial services or a related field is preferred.

 TELEVISION PRODUCER/DIRECTOR - Comedy, Drama & Emerging forms

Columbia College Chicago is an urban institution of over 12,500 undergraduate and graduate students, emphasizing arts, media, and communication in a liberal arts setting. The Television Department at Columbia College Chicago invites applications for a tenure-track position to begin either spring semester 2010 or fall semester 2010. We seek individuals who have an extensive track record in producing/directing including, but not limited to, drama, comedy or commercials. Experience in emerging forms like internet and mobile television are essential for this position. Candidates must have a graduate degree, distinguished record of professional achievement and teaching experience. We are looking for individuals to contribute to the quality of the directing and production concentration as well as the programming we produce on a regular basis through our classes and our television station, Frequency TV. Our desired candidates should be prepared to teach an array of introductory and advanced courses and to be involved closely in refining curriculum in various areas including the internet and mobile media concentration. The ability to translate high professional standards to an academic environment is critical for this position.

The Television Department currently serves 300 undergraduate majors with a rigorous curriculum in Aesthetics, Studio and Field Production, Producing, Editing, Motion Graphics, Internet & Mobile Television and Writing. The department is an integral part of the School of Media Arts, which in addition to Television includes vital programs in Film, Audio Arts & Acoustics, Interactive Arts & Media, Marketing Communication, Journalism and Radio. The College offers much opportunity for dialogue and collaboration. Our students are expected to balance a liberal arts education with extensive preparation to enter the television industry and we require a professional who can model professionalism for our students while working in a dynamic learning environment.

The Department of Theater is seeking applications for a tenured or tenure-track faculty position, rank open, in Musical Theater beginning August 16, 2010. The successful candidate will be an artist/teacher with experience in synthesizing the disciplines of musical theater, acting, singing, and dance, and the vision to collaborate in the shaping of a rapidly growing musical theater program. Expertise in both traditional musical theater as well as the development of new work is highly desirable. Qualifications include an MFA or PhD degree in Theater; professional experience in the field of musical theatre; a minimum of two to five years teaching experience at the college and/or university level; and good administrative and management skills.

Responsibilities include: teaching 3 courses per semester, chosen from the following: acting, directing, singing. Other responsibilities include coordinating the BA and BFA program requirements, reviewing and developing curriculum, advising students, and participating in committee service at the department and college level.
